Around 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Rescue organizations handled over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

During the peak on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both areas.

Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
